I live in Massachusetts and am looking for a recipe for duck sauce served with food at Chinese restaurants.?

I believe it is made from applesauce. It is a light brown color and very sweet. It's served on tables with hot mustard. We dip chicken fingers in it. I've searched all sorts of recipes online but I know this sauce is cheaply made and thrown together. I'm making homemade Chinese :)
