Would it be ok to use black Carhartt overalls and Carhartt jacket for bellow zero weather to go snowboarding ?

i do not want to spend money to get new pants and jacket to go snowboarding. if i will not get to hot and wet?..... in the Carhartt clothes that is water proff but not as much as the real snowboarding clothes. i think it might work but not to sure i only done it once i would like to now for all you experience snow-borders.
